MAXIMIZING PERFORMANCE AND PRODUCTIVITY

This month Sal Heavy Equipment took delivery of twelve brand-new Caterpillar excavators — a mix of Cat 320 mid-range and Cat 336 heavy-duty machines — expanding our regional rental fleet by close to 15% in a single intake. The new units are already prepped, certified, and rolling out to active jobsites across the region.

The investment is a direct response to feedback from our long-term contractor and mining clients, who have spent the last 18 months telling us the same thing: lead times for short-notice excavator hire have been getting longer, and project schedules are slipping because of it. With this delivery, our average response time on a confirmed rental request drops from around two weeks to under 72 hours — and on standard 320-class units, often inside 24 hours.

“We see ourselves as more than a supplier — we’re part of our customers’ schedule,” said our Operations Director. “When a tower crane lift slips a day or a foundation pour gets pulled forward, our customers can’t wait two weeks for a machine. This investment is about closing that gap permanently.”

What’s changed in the fleet

Every new unit ships with the latest Cat Connect telematics, factory-fitted GPS tracking, and our in-house preventive maintenance schedule pre-loaded. That means real-time hour tracking, fuel-burn monitoring, and predictive service alerts — so customers get fewer surprise breakdowns, and our service team can plan parts and field visits before downtime hits.

The new fleet also brings broader attachment compatibility — hydraulic breakers, tilt rotators, mulchers, and quick couplers — making the same machine useful across demolition, civil, and forestry work without juggling multiple rentals.

Booking the new units

The 12 new excavators are available for booking immediately through our standard rental channels. Existing account customers will see them appear in their inventory portal this week; new customers can request a quote via our equipment supply page or speak directly with their assigned account manager.

This delivery is the first phase of a broader 2026 fleet renewal program. Subsequent intakes — already on order — include additional dozers, articulated dump trucks, and a second batch of compact loaders scheduled to arrive across the next two quarters. Watch this space.
